SAFETY
Eaton Thorne Stables is fully qualified, insured, council licensed and inspected, family run riding school with safe equipment.
PARENTS
Lucinda and her Mother Nan, get enormous pleasure from helping, encouraging, supporting and witnessing improvement in the riding of the children. It’s not only riding skills that the children acquire, but also life skills from being around ponies. Children have to be disciplined when dealing with horses and ponies as they need to respect everything involved with the animals. If they are lucky enough to own, loan or share a pony they learn the true meaning of commitment in addition to obtaining plenty of outdoor exercise.
Achievements are always congratulated and recognised, whether it is putting on a bridle for the first time, mastering the rising trot or going to the first show. All this helps build personal confidence and increases enjoyment.
Lucinda and Nan’s key aim is to make riding affordable and accessible. Opportunities do exist for children to loan or share ponies, keeping the cost, time and commitment to manageable levels as well as a gentle starting place before considering buying a pony.
PUPILS ACHIEVEMENTS
Some of our earlier pupils are now successfully embarking on their National Competitive careers, competing both with British Eventing and the British Show Jumping Association.
Others have chosen to take riding as one of their sports at school for PE GCSE, which has resulted in Lucinda and Nan developing their video filming skills!
Eaton Thorne Stables have also supported members of Scouting and Guiding by verifying the standards achieved to enable those members to obtain their equestrian badges.
SOCIALISING
The children are required to help and look out for each other whether it is with or without a pony. Ponies are great levellers ensuring that the children all become great friends who freguently visit each other's homes, often playing “ponies”.The ponies greatest asset is giving undemanding companionship.
